The mining and burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil, natural gas) are major contributors to climate change as well as pollution. Though natural gas has been touted as a “clean” fuel, it too releases greenhouse gases. Its extraction and use also release methane, which is an even more powerful greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide.

This means we must move quickly to transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy. Quite a few Warwick residents are contributing to this transition by installing solar electric panels and solar hot water. Combined with increased efficiency and conservation, the transition to renewable energy can lead us to a sustainable future. How feasible is this? New technologies and improved grids are driving a switch to renewable energy sources.
